Hi,
I brought a laptop from Novatech around 3 years ago, and after going through several problems with overheating and spontaneous switching off, I want to replace the processor fan.
I don't know what the model name was, but it has Model: 8640 written on the underside (although i don't know if this refers to just the power input).
Within the battery compartment is written
MSL 526267573013
Rev: R00-4D-R1.09-1.01
M.O.: SBA310579
I was wondering if I could be told what model fan I should purchase, and the details of removing the underside of the case, as even removing all the visible screws doesn't seem to enable me to remove the case and get to the processor..
Many thanks,
Joe

I would imagine you would be best removing the keyboard and getting to it this way
I havent worked on this model laptop, there may be some plastic panels to prise off near the keyboard, then some screws to remove then you can get inside the machine

Access to the CPU in 8640 Model is done by removing the top Speaker Cover, then removing the keyboard then followed by CPU door. Access to CPU is not through bottom cover

How do you remove the speaker cover and keyboard?
Many thanks

I can lift the keyboard up slightly, but I can't remove it and don't want to apply too much pressure...
A few more details on how removing the top speaker cover and keyboard would be really appreciated....

To remove the top cover ( The small plastic panel that runs across the top of the keyboard with the power button in it ).
Look on the back edge of the notebook towards the left hand side if you have turned it round to face you. You will see a small round hole.
This is the release for the top cover. You will need to insert a small object such as unfolded paper clip in to this hole which will push the clip on the top cover. With the clip pressed in slide the top cover to the right. Should move about 0.5 to 1 inch and stop. Lift away.
You will now expose the top edge of the keyboard which is held down by two screws. Remove these teo screws and you will be able to lift the keyboard away.
You will now clearly see the CPU fan and a cover over it held in by screws.
This is how you gain access to the CPU FAN and socket.
Regards.
