Hi

please could you help me i've got a novatech laptop seem to be having speed problems when writing do disk no matter what type i am using the speed i'm getting is about 2.5 the drive is a HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N

The maximum speed that this drive can burn at 8x. This depends on the discs that you are using. Here is a full breakdown:

Hi

thank you for getting back to me on this i have tried a number of disks all bought from novatech not getting anywhere near those speeds if there a firmware update for this drive and would this help if so where would i get it from as i do not no the make of the drive
