Large enough Flash drives at a reasonable price that will replace standard hard drives. I currently run two seagate 80 gb hard drives which is more than enough for me. I have seen Flash hard drives coming onto the market but compared to standard hard drives they are really expensive. My board will also boot from USB flash drive so which will be first - large pen drives or flash hard drives. Thoughts anyone? :D

Do you mean SSDs (Solid State Drives)? If so, they are coming down in price very fast to be quite honest.
A Dutch inventor has now invented the 64GB USB Pen drive and at a cost of €75 which is VERY reasonable if you ask me, though at those tranfer speeds you will be there for a long time trying to boot up Windows or even trying to save big files to it!

Yes SSDs are still expensive compared to standard HDDs.

Yes, of course. They are new technology, wait a year or so and they will be a good price ;)

Would still like to try Win XP on a flash drive, I'll let you buy me a 64 gb pen drive to try it out. :D

I don't know if they have been released, I read it when I was in Holland on my nans computer on the local news (it's her homepage) and I thought that might be good but not sure if it is out.
If you give me the cash + extra for postage I would  I don't go first though .. unlucky LOL!

LOL yes they are my friend.
I got a back up drive but I rarely use it, I mainly made my old Seagate 250GB in to a backup drive for my dad so that he can transfer all his work files fast. Pitty he didn't give me the cash for the enclosure or the drive

my dad bought my 250GB for £50 and he hasnt even used it yet ( conned anyway) so i may use it for backing up too =) I dont think your gonna see some usb flash drives just yet that can cope with backing up music + videos on a medium to high scale. now im doing A level ICT it looks like i may have to grab a 2GB device =)
but im sure the maximum is 32gb or 64gb drives they wont be built for fast speeds but basically just readingn that =)
why doesnt anyone give out free pendrives in town anymore? :(

Mate I would just buy an exclosure, they are very easy to set up and they are only £23.50 + postage (unless you pick it up) and come with all the cabling you need, and you get fast tranfer speeds! I get 60MB/s through USB and around 90MB/s through eSATA! :)
