I just got a PIII 700 handmedown from work I want to set up for my housemate,

The case is really filthy and I am going to give it a through scrub up, but some bonehead has put the XP licence sticker on the front panel of the case, I wish to remove it and stick on the side in the normal fashion.

Any tips on carefully removing these without tearing??

i dont think there is a way, because of copyright etc, they make them soo hard to remove, have you tried soapy water :D

just think about the last time you wanted to remove a sticker, how did you do that

The glue used on COA's is designed to adhere fully to the surface it has been placed on once it has been on for a couple of days.

You can try removing using a razor blade to lift it and slowly and i mean SLOWLY pealing it back and using the razor blade to help left it.

A heat gun can also help to get one off but this method requires real care. To much heat and the plastic on the COA will melt and make the COA unreadable, to little and the glue won't soften to help removal.

I have been able to remove these before but it is a real art to remove and not damge them. The simple fact is, these things were not designed to be removed. They are made with lots of little cuts and nicks in them so if you try to peel them they just rip in half.

Infact, they were designed not to be removed :D

Best suggestion I have is to use the area infront of the PC as the area you put your coffee cup :D Otherwise, razor blade, and REAL care, go really really slowly, and you *may* be ok.

And it won'r re-stick either. Well, not properly.

Why not use an Indelible pen to write it on the CD, or the case you keep the CD in. :?:

You wont need the sticker any more then. :)

I've had another idea, remove it with a hacksaw, or dremel.

Will leave a hole in the case shell, but its likely the case is cheaper than the license! :D

First choice should be Metholated spirits, this usually removes most glues, apply with cloth then leave to soak and rub off with meth soaked cloth.
try this method before using tools and damaging surface.
