Before taking the suspect goods to a support centre i would recommend checking Epson's online support.

http://esupport.epson-europe.com/SupportHome.aspx?lng=en-GB

Once you have selected your product it will take you to the support page. Most of the support pages have an online step by step interactive troubleshooting guides. If you follow this and still have problems then take the product to a support centre.

Mine too, but don't you *love* the print quality when it does have ink? I love mine!

My experience with epsom have always been, they send you another recon one if yours ends up broke, real pain in the butt.

I now tend to go with HP, as if there is a problem they send you a new one.

One of my epsons , The PX7000W had a problem and there is a centre in town so took it there and they fixed it in an hour . They said if they couldnt fix it I would get a brand new replacement

Do yourselfs a favour and buy a brother printer, just bought 4 lots of generic ink on the web = 16 inks for £20, I get 600 to 700 prints of each set of 4 inks. And because you have each colour in a seperate cartridge there is no waste whereas other printer manufactures will have 3 colours in 1 cartridge and say if cyan runs out then any magenta or yellow left has to be thrown away.

Epson use seperate inks , For example my RX685 and PX700W use 6 different inks .

Also dont use the cheap inks from ebay as it will ruin your inkpads and clog your tubes ;)

I phoned epson support, my newsx215 suddenly reported it could not work with compatible inks. Every ink was a genuine epson! Support guy said, take em back to pc world. Half used I said? Well, put a bit of sellotape over the ends, buy new ones, and then try the old ones after they run out.

I lost it it bit then.

Funnily though, my colleague had a set of compatibles for his sx, and I tried them and they worked. So much for genuine epsons. Last epson I'll buy or recommend.

Must say I stopped buying Epson printers about 6 years ago after having nothing but hassle/frustration with them! <3 Canon

I can't believe you lot are slating the Epson's, for one NT do a great range of compatibles for them, I'm on my second Epson unit now, the first one an R220 is still chugging in my next door neighbours system, and my PX700W is over a year old and still not giving any issues.

I'm also a Canon fan, these are great unit's imo, only had one die, but it did do a lot of work at the time.

HP I just will not go near anymore, they set them up to be impossible to refill properly, and the carts are always double dear imo, no issues with the print quality, but they simply smash you in the pocket.

Lexmark, nuff said, owned one for one day.

Kodak, not got any experience of these, but the above said R220 replaced the Kodak in the neighbours system, and it wasn't that old either.
