Hello all,

I have an Atec 37" lcd display, which I never had any problems with, until I tried (today) to attach Sky HD, via the DVI. I get about a half second of full image, then 3 to 4 seconds if digital white noise. Somewhat perplexed, I took the Sky HD box to a friends house, who has a Philips panel, and hey presto, everything worked fine, no problems whatsoever. It is quite clear that the panel does not meet the requirement to carry the HDCP logo, and therefore the HDREADY logo, as one requires the other.

On another note, the panel carries the DVB compliant logo, yet does not have two components required in the specifications, namely no digital teletext nor an accessible slot to be able to upgrade to watch pay per view channels.

As I see it, the Atec panels do not perform as stated, and can therefore should be classed as not fit for purpose.

Does anyone from Novatech wish to comment on these issues?

Have you emailed Ater directly - they ultimately made it and know exactly why they put that logo on there, and what it actually can and can't do - though if it works for half a second, then not - it actually sounds faulty to me, decoder chip overloading or something?

Have a chat to Novatech tech support tomorrow - see what they say.

Shouting loudly is the least likely method to succeed in effecting a solution.

Both Novatech (and the other retailers of Atec product) and the Atec UK service representative are working closely with the manufacturer to effect a solution in the shortest possible time.

Given the number of email correspondance I am entering into with forum users I would expect the results to be with you shortly.

There is a significant time gap between here and Korea, so expect a status update in the morning, then possibly another around 5PM.

Atec are not the only brand to have issues with Sky HD box. Many manufacturers released their sets to market before the Sky HD box came out, these manufacturers did so in good faith, but it seems there is enough stretch in the standards to give rise to some compatibility issues.

What I find particularly interesting here is no-one seems to allocate even a small percentage of the blame to Sky, despite most of the products in the range functioning perfectly with almost all other HD sources.
