View Full Version : New CPU and PSU
Hi,
I would like your help in selecting the correct CPU to replace the current CPU installed in this MB bundle please.
Intel E2180 Dual Core 2GB DDR2 RAM Motherboard Bundle
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... MBB-2182GB (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MBB-2182GB)
I recently built and sold this PC,and the new owner would like to upgrade both.
He would like either a powerful dual core or quad core, also a PSU which supports the chip and the power hungry graphics cards.
Many thanks :D

Dont see much point upgrading that chip when it has at least a 50% OC in it. If that isn't enough upgrade it as the cache will start to come into play.
Thanks for the suggestion, but they are not happy with the overclocking method,so its still a new CPU and PSU.Cheers

To really get extra performance you'd have to go to at least an 8400, there is not a lot of difference in those 2 chips. But then you may as well go for a quad q6600 lol. and Hiper 580w will do for a psu.
Hello,
My friends are very grateful for all your advice and suggestions,thanks..
They will be buying the Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2 x 2.53Ghz 3Mb Cache 1066 FSB Dual Core Processor, and the Hiper PSU.
They will also require a new heatsink and fan assembly. With regards to the mentioned MB,can you offer suggestions please.
Cheers
Sorry for another question please...They are sort of interested in overclocking the CPU.What is the max CPU speed(safest) they could achieve using the supplied heatsink and fan. Also Is it just a case of entering the BIOS.or jumpers on the MB ???.
Cheers

What a waste of time just overclock the cpu they already have lol, by the time they are running at 3ghz theres nothing between the 2 cpu's totally wasting money here. Pointless.
