Hi,

I seem to have a problem with rogue Anti-Spyware program trying to install itself on my computer. This looks to be happening on a weekly basis.Just wondering if anyone else has been getting the same problem.

It downloads the security warning box that my computer may be infected, then tries to install itself automatically. This only happens when browsing for fix problems.Windows XP Home.

I have A Squared and AVG both paid for versions.Kerio Firewall paid for. Also have MawareBytes and Fixiedef. Also WinPatrol and McAfee Site Advisor.I have also ran a Rootkit scan that found nothing.

Just wondering when they start trying to download could they leave something on the computer that may download at a later date.Any advice welcome. You really have to be quick to remove it before it downloads fully.

Thanks

download and install super anti spyware its free from here http://www.superantispyware.com run a full scan also clean you cookies if you use internet explorer i suggest you switch to firefox and install the adblock + plugin you can still have internet explorer to use for windows updates etc..

but use firefox as your main browser its sound like you have a virus on your pc with the descryption you have ive seen this before rougue websites and public p2p sites & pirated software contain the files they hide in your registry and change location there are many fixes a good site to check for these virus and i recomend it is http://www.bitdefender.com run the Online scan it takes up to 4 hours to complete depending on connection and size of your harddrives with the ammount of files you have installed.

the worse case scenario and final resort is a clean install of your op system i try to avoid this!

backing up your data is the only annoying part of this... otherwise takes about 30-60 mins these days, without app/game installs.

Yeah OS installs tend to be fairly quick nowadays. If you're able to create your own disc (n/v lite) then you can stick the DVD in and come back when it's done.

Another suggestion is Spybot S&D. It never failed me in over 4 years of use.

I use S&D andd FIrefox and don't have any problems anymore that was more to do with dumping IE rather than starting to use S&D....
