Not all motherboards are able to support the GX2 Range of Cards. You need to make sure that the card is compatible with your motherboard.

A list of Boards already tested by NVIDIA can be found here and they are updating this as they test more but this takes time so even if your board is not listed it may still work.

http://www.nvidia.com/content/geforce_gx2_sbios/us.asp

Also Very Important!! The mainboard may require updated BIOS to work with 7950 GX2 card and might not even POST if you don't have the correct BIOS version installed.

On the link above NVIDIA have listed BIOS version (or higher) required to support GX2 on the boards they have tested.

Obviously its best to check this out as you might deem the card faulty when in fact the issue is not the graphics card but the mainboard.

Yes it might do as i said it will take time for testing also your mainboard might need new BIOS created before Nvidia can test it working

i checked out the asus forum, as long as ya PCI-E slot can sort 16 up and down it shouldnt be a problem at all.

but then again if i was gonna get a 7950gx2 i would a nvidia nforce 590 mobo and hook it up with an amd

What i got from NVIDIA was they are testing BIOS support which requires certain bits to be put in and also electrical interoperability as some boards do not meet requirement for Dual Card even though they support 16x PCI-e.
