I have recently acquired another problem...
I purchased a Creative Fatal1ty Sound card from Novatech recently and - though the hardware is fantastic - the software is causing problems.
As you probably already know, the different hardware/software settings are controlled via the "mode selector", giving you a choice between:
Gaming mode,
Audio Creation mode and
Entertainment mode.
Not long ago, my Entertainment mode option stopped working.
I would click on the icon in the mode changer menu, right click on the Creative volume options and try and change it via that, and go into the Programs menu and try it there but, - for all my attempts - the screen flickers for a split second and the system returns unto whatever mode it was previously working in.
Despite my attempts to fix the problem by re-installing the drivers, it continues being obstainate.
Any attempt by me to try and sort it out via the settings results in my entire system crashing badly, (to the point whereby I actually have to perform a system restore!)
I am STILL unable to connect to the internet, (mea maxima culpa - it would seem,) as the "Vista compatible" Netgear USB 2.00 wireless adapter I bought turned out to be a fraud and swimming with malicious lies of compatability and empty promises of being able to surf the net. (Netgear - Thou shalt be cast unto the pit...)
And Novatech's policy concerning their preserving the right to pick the time when they withdraw money from my account almost broke my balance badly.
I had planned on getting my new PC in two halves you see, but ongoing technical issues forced me to purchase the entire machine in one go and, despite my mislead belief that the money had already been withdrawn, (leading me into a false sense of security concerning exactly how much money my account contained,) I almost ended up in an involuntary debt to my bank!
So - therefore - I cannot just go about spending lots more money on new routers and network cards which are definitely garunteed to work with the awkward Vista OS.
Except - of course - in the unlikely event that I do, in fact win those vouchers for completing a review.
If anyone could please address my sound card problem in any way, I would be very gratefull.
(And seeing as I can't find my post about my wireless adaptor - regardless of my efforts to do so - some help on that wouldn't be misconstrewed either if possible!)
