i am a computer novice and want to know as much as i can about computers. I have heard of a thing called overclocking but I dont know what it is or does. Can someone please help me understand what its and what it does to your computer?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in a nutshell...

Overclocking is the process in which you feed more power from your PSU (Power Supply) into your CPU (Central Processing Unit) or Processor and in turn it increases the speed in which it makes calculations, therefore making your computer faster. However it can be risky, if you feed to much power into your processor it won't function properly and may not even boot into Windows.

To overclock you increase the FSB by changing it in the BIOS. Increasing the FSB also increases the power delivered to the RAM chips, making them run a little faster aswell.

Your motherboard Multiplyer X your FSB will give you your clock speed.

That's pretty much as far as my knowledge goes, I'm no expert myself.

Mouse no one is wrong when it comes to overclocking its what you personally are happy with,that guide is just to give an insight into the start of it,and i think its a good start for anyone :D
