Hi, just wanted to know if any of you that have bought a Saturn S laptop have suffered from what seems like static discharges whilst using it?

It does not affect the laptop's performance: no screen flickers or hanging Just a bit of a shock (not literally) when it happens. Nothing specific makes it happen.

I had it fixed by the guys at Novatech in Jan this year and I have just had to send it back again. The first time they replaced the motherboard and glide pad, but this time they could not replicate the fault in an extended test, so are returning it undiagnosed and therefore unfixed.

Any Ideas?? :?:

Otherwise a great machine used mainly for internetting and webcamming abroad.

Electrically speaking, its more likely that YOU are the one generating the charge, and the Laptop is providing the earth path for it.

Does it happen every time you touch it? or only every now and then?

What sort of enviroment are you using it in? Carpeted room? Plastic chair?

If its evertime then its not you, but for some reason the pad and you are building a charge when you use it and the best earth path is back through you.

Might be worth getting a mouse for use with it.

I would have to agree with Chewie on this one.

You might like to try one of the many anti-static products (mats etc) that are available to see if this eliminates the problem.
