Ouch that is pretty unlucky, never come across this 1 before, my idea would be data recovery from the hdd, then reboot, maybe a little extreme, but i often find that the simple and 100% easy solution is the quickest and better option very often. ;) So if you have another pc to use to recover your files, or a new hdd or spare hdd install an os and then get your files.

Should be easier than that, I hope - had a similar issue with a different .dll and some bright spark showed me a clever way to fix it. XP keeps a copy of the system link libraries in the /dllcache folder so you can simply copy it over, like thus:
Decibel - grab your Windows XP disk (I'm assuming it's XP), and boot from it, but instead of re-installing the O/S, access the Recovery Console instead. At the command prompt type:
copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\url.dll c:\windows\system32
Simply restart and et voila...

Hi Neil
Sorry for going a little off-topic but do you have a head like Coop's avatar (lol) or do you keep all your tips in a book or computer file? I know I can bookmark threads that take my fancy but would like to have better organisation than that.

I have the head.... 8)
Seriously, though, once you've had the problem yourself and worked through it, there's no need to write it down. I'm a firm believer in the 'monkey see, monkey do' principle ! What would be nice is if people followed up their problem requests with 'that worked for me' or 'nope... didn't work because of X,Y and Z'. Un-responded problems don't help anyone trying to errrr help.

Getting on a bit now and having lost a few cells to beer in the past I find that I need to write things down. Most information is still there but the old CPU needs a nudge. Perhaps we all have different sized hard drives? Well enough of the stupid analogies - I did note that you copy and paste into Notepad though. Perhaps I should try this approach and design a basic database for indexing?
Thanks Neil
