If you have installed a new CD or DVD drive in your PC and its not detected here is a few things to check.

Make sure the jumper on the drive is set to the correct position.

Make sure the drive is enabled in the BIOS.

Make sure you have connected the IDE lead and power lead.

If you have a spare IDE lead try this to make sure its not a faulty lead that is causing the problems.

Done all of these and it still doesnt work, power to it is on (the little light is on, and it opens and closes normally)

My new dvd rom drive isnt recognised in the bios.or in windows

The cable isnt faulty because it works on my other drive.

None of my drives play call of duty 2 or quake 4.

how would i be able to burn the image from a drive that doesnt get recognised or a drive that doesnt think that there is a dvd in the drive to play these games???

EDIT:dont worry now ,i have fixed it.
b****y ide master/slave settings werent in correctly.
