anyone used this util?

friend of mine has been using it and says its great for evaluating a different OS (ie: Vista or Linux) or setting up a whole new PC without having to commit a whole spare machine to try out a new install of Windows.

going to give this a go next week sometime I think, would like to try beta of Vista with it.

yeah, been using vmware at work for a good few years now. Have heard about the MS one, but no idea if its as good/better or worse.

I've used both, but the MS version less.

I found it somewhat cumbersome compared to VMware and I wasn't overly keen on the interface into the virtual computers.

I believe that VMWare are releasing GSX next month as a free utility for users to play with although the ESX is still not free.

I've been using Virtual PC for the last 15 months at work and I've been using VMWare Workstation for the last 2 months at home, and I would have to say that VMWare Workstation is far superior. I only wish I could use it at work :)

its on all our builds, users that require admin rights, get them to their 'virtual machine' a rebuild on those is simply copying a single folder in.
