Relatives have asked me what I would like for Christmas.
I would like to say Novatech Gift vouchers, but redemption aggravation makes me prefer Cash,
or even Play.com vouchers.
I am happy that when I submit a query I generally get a response the following day,
but every response seems to not only answer my query,
but also reveal another "Gotcha" that causes me to submit a further query for clarification.
I have now submitted another query and expect a response, probably tomorrow,
but fear I will detect yet another hurdle in what would, with other companies, be a simple redemption.
Not knowing whether I will complete this question and answer marathon before Christmas,
I am posting here to warn other users that there could be difficulties with redemption,
and also hoping that this might reach the attention of some-one high enough in the chain of command to cut through red tape.
The relevant section of my response to my relatives is below.
Regards

Either cash or gift vouchers would be good, and will be spent well.
The Novatech Gift Voucher is a recent innovation which is a little inconvenient, i.e.
I can buy a £100 drive + a £10 Gift voucher (either for myself or for some-one else)
BUT I have to pay the entire £110 cost by charge on my credit card,
their web-site is unable to allow part payment via any £50 Gift Voucher I may have received.
I can buy a £100 drive with a £50 Gift Voucher plus a £50 credit card charge,
BUT if I want a £40 item this week, plus a £60 item next month (e.g. nil stock, or still deciding what else)
I am allowed to buy it with the £50 gift voucher,
BUT the remaining £10 is wasted - they cannot refund nor give credit note nor give a £10 Gift Voucher for my future use.
The above is what I have recently been told by Sales in response to my questions.
I am awaiting response to a question I posted this evening.
It hopefully will cast light on this situation below :-
If I receive 10 off £5 vouchers instead of a single £50 voucher,
I SHOULD be able to buy that £40 item with 8 of these vouchers. So lots of £5 vouchers please !!!
BUT perhaps the web-site payment form only has space for a solitary Gift Voucher serial number,
In which case I could only buy that £40 item with one voucher, plus a £45 Credit Card Charge.
And the 9 remaining vouchers can only be spent on 9 further separate transactions.
Or there could be yet another Gotcha - just when I thought I had asked everything !!!
I accept that Gift Vouchers are a new innovation for Novatech and their web-site will get better,
but at the moment they have some peculiar restrictions upon how they may be redeemed,
So cash is probably a better option for now.
