I had a bad experience with a Netgear SC101, the device takes up to 2 hard drives, I liked it as i could partition it for the grandchildren to use as well as my own storage.
I had loads of stuff stored on it.
Then it failed, it would sit there flashing it's lights at me, but no acrivity, and i couldn't get to the files.
OK, standard drives, just put them into the PC and drag the foiles off, or so i thought.
It had a different format, windows wouldn't open it.
So, i had to buy another SC101 case just to retrieve the files.
Point of this thread ?
I'd like to get another NAS, just the case as i have 2 spare drives, not netgear, but if something was to go wrong, i want to be able to retrieve the files by connecting the drives directly as a slave in a PC.
