My old laptop was/is connected to NTL cable broadband via AEI USB to fast ethernet adaptor.
i'm having a problem connecting to the net with the revo 800 I bought yesterday...

I get nothing at all via any of the USB ports.
and if I remove the adaptor and plug into the miniport the connection is so poor its non-exsistant.

Any help would be really appreciated!

First thing is this. Using the Ethernet connection (RJ45) on you laptop if thats what your on about, should provide you with a better connection (actually, you won't notice it unless your accessing a broadband line of around 8mb, which you'll find its hard to keep a good one as unless you have a modem thats less than 6months or so old, it won't like it).

can i suggest that you visit the website for the makers of the laptop, and check to see if there is an update for your machines internal hardware. If there is, download it, install it and see how it connects then.

That should cure your poor connection, if not, lets us know and we''l try and diagnose it again.

If this is a unit that you have installed Windows on yourself then i would advise you update the hardware drivers. If this is a unit you bought Windows preinstalled on you should have no issue with LAN port or driver. Infact all our units are preloaded over LAN.

Are you connecting your STB or Cable modem directly to your Laptop.

I know that you have to configure STB to work with your Lan Adaptor before it can be used, which means if you change the unit that was running on the connection you need to set the STB up to recognise the new units LAN adaptor, Until this is done i don't think you can get internet access. I am not sure if this applies to cable modem as well??
