nvidia have just announced their new graphics card, it has 32 pixel pipelines and 16 vertex shaders.
but ATI have gone with ?64? unified shaders, but which will be best
The nvidia one - ATI has poor linux drivers.

A lot also depends on who makes the software, we have found most games software companies prefer Nvidia so even though (for example) you might have an ATI crossfire setup or such, it might run better on an Nvidia chipset GFX as they made it to work better with that hardware.
Think of the opening sequence to Unreal 2003-4 etc, with the "way its meant to be played" Nvidia intro built into the opening sequence.
You can tell who they prefer!
And Everquest 2.
I did always wonder if that advertising was paid for by Nvidia though, I would assume so.

ATI drivers flaky in Linux, and often flaky in Windows too.
Let's face it, if you want cheap you buy ATI, if you want good, you buy nVidia

COD2 runs fine on mine, bhut when ever i see it being run with both nvidia and ATI cards, the ATI cards seem to run it better.
I have all my games Capped at 60fps so i dont work them too hard :D

cod2 is just poorly programmed in places. ATI does seem to perform better though. Although my 6600 gets 130fps avg with all full in dx7 mode.

i was playing COD2 maxed out, and i have to say "WOW", it looked great,
one part, i was sneaking round a corner, then i saw a germans shadow on the floor, so i threw a nade and the german came flying round the corner, i thought i was watching a movie the graphics were so good, and had smooth fps :D

7950GT, specs are the same as the 7900gtx, but a slightly lower clock speed, maybe some overclocking will change that.
but, gainward have already made a 512mb 7900GT, with the same specs, so is this just nvidia copying one of their makers???

depends on what resolution you are playing on, and what game you are playing.

plus the 1950 will put up a fight
