you know im seriously tempted by this and finally ditching my desktop, can you tell me if a) this thing is reasonably quiet and b) if the cpu is user upgradable at all (i understand this will void warranty quite likely, but thats the only weak point i can see)

Cheers!

I wonder which competitor that is :) man im gripping the credit card tightly

Well I can't say we've tested this particular notebook with linux as of yet, its not something we've had a big calling for with this model. People usually buy it as a gaming system and throw windows onto it..

answered this on your other thread...

nb, I have the 8700M gt model of this laptop - it runs sabyon (gentoo) fine, fedora 8 I could not get the wifi to work, but if i'm honest i didn't spend too long trying. ubuntu loaded fine and looked like it worked, but didnt test wifi though...

Will run Ubuntu fine, we are soon to release Ubuntu systems pre-loaded and this will be one, the chipset is Intel so should be hastle free, the wireless is also Intel but should still work fine.

You can upgrade the CPU at a later date, if you are worried about voiding the warranty then buy the CPU you want a we will do it for you - just PM me when you are ready and we will keep your warranty in place.

I have one of these and they do make a little noise when the fans kick in but no more than a normal notebook - they are not noisey if that is what you are worried about.

Thanks for the reply, Not that worried about the noise as my desk top at the moment sounds like a 747. It was more for the CPU getting married this year but want a good laptop but dont want to spend a small fortune at the moment so this sounds ideal, that or one of the finanace package and forget about it for a bit and go for the more expensive ones:confused:

We have now sold all the stock, if you have already placed an order then you have one - if you were thinking of buying one it is too late to take up this offer.
