what is the brand, model number etc?
You will need to find out which wireless card you have. To find out which wireless card you have all you need to do is :
1) Turn the notebook off
2) Unplug the mains cable
3) Remove the battery (there is a spring loaded catch to do this: force it over as far as it will go and then a little more - the battery will spring up slightly so that you can take it out)
4) Inside the battery compartment (*not* on the battery itself) you will find a label which says WIRELESS LAN. The wireless card can be found on that sticker.
