This is a very handy link that should answer most BIOS related questions.

***BIOS updates are done entirely at your own risk, if anything goes wrong when updating the BIOS Novatech will not be held responsible. If the wrong BIOS is used or if the BIOS is updated incorrectly this could leave the motherboard un-useable***

Just bought Bundle Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2048MB 800Mhz DDR2 Intel P35 Motherboard.

First thing I'm trying to do is instal Linspire.
In the Advanced BIOS Features menu the IDE drives (HD & CD/DVD) are visible in BIOS in the Boot Sequence config options, so I can at least boot from CDROM. But ... the IDE drives are not visible in the Standard CMOS Features menu (just the SATA and Floppy drives are visible).
Linspire needs to (and must) instal itself on the IDE HD, but won't. It reports no IDE HDD available. I think this is because the BIOS doesn't see it in the Standard CMOS Features.
How do I make the IDE drives visible in the Standard CMOS Features menu?
Is there a BIOS upgrade I can use?
Any advice appreciated!

This probably won't be able to happen because most motherboards are going to SATAII which is a lot faster for the computer to work with and the air flow is increased amazingly. You will probably have problems installing it or getting it to install due to the motherboards not supporting it as much as they used too.

There's a couple of reasons you are having problems here, and as The Dude says, a SATA 300 drive would make your life easier.

The first is you have an additional IDE controller apart from the standard Intel ICH9 (SATA only) one. This needs an additional driver at install, either in RAID or IDE/SATA mode.

The second is that mixing a CD and an HD on the same connector adds all sorts of issues. I would guess the CD is working in some sort of legacy mode.

I can only suggest you install Linspire to the SATA, which should not be a problem if you allow the partitioner to resize any existing partitions.

Vista and some larger Linux install DVDs will probably include a driver for the additional controller. Otherwise you manually install it at an early stage of the install from floppy or USB.

I would hope the motherboard manual and drivers disk would help a little.
