Just wondered if there where any IT contractors on here?
If so what's your thoughts about the current climate? Things looking good on your current assignment?

I'm a contractor - my current contract is up at the end of the month and it looks like there's another renewal possibility. I've also seen a reasonable number of opportunities but it is quieter than 12 months ago.

Hey Wonder...
I've been doing IT Contracting for about 4 months now...
work was a little dry at first but then I changed agencies and started doing more work myself to find jobs rather than relying on them and was finding more work.
Current contract is going to turn into a full time job though (which I like the idea of)

Is it one of the big boys or a local guy? How do you find their services and is there anything that you think they should offer that they currently do?

i do get regulars come to me for advice spyware/virus cleaning minor upgrades i dont charge they just give me what they think its worth sometimes i can make an extra £300 to £400 a month but been very quiet since october last year imo
i could go into contacting or possibly fulltime custom pc building but without backing from the banks or other jobs in my area its really quiet here :( i so wish nova would open a swindon store lol i would try and get a job there xD

I'd be interested to know if anyone does contracting in the Norwich area...
I may be moving up that way and trying to find out if there is any work up there for my skills (c++ c# SQL etc.)
I don't contract at the moment, but a change of location is the sort of jolt I need to switch out of the Permie trap. (i.e. the notice period)
So far all i hear is "well it's close to Cambridge and there's plenty there..." which isn't too useful as it's too far from norwich to really be commutable (in my eyes)
