Using old Pavilion 7934.(2001) can not find processor to speed up PC.
Told that the Intel Celeron will do the job.
at present it contains Intel (r) Pentium 4 Processor,1.5 GHz (mPGA478 ZIF Socket) w/400 MHz Frontside Bus only.
I am told that my motherboard will support only upto 2.0 GHz processor speed only.
Can someone please help an old lady of 78 years who is trying to keep up with the times ?

Hi Vera,

The only Intel Celeron we have in stock is the 2.8ghz version (PR-CD28478) which would be fast for your computer if the information you have is correct.
This may be somewhat unusual but you should try ebay, there are currently quite a few 478 Celeron CPU's under and at 2.0 ghz, like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mobile-Celeron-47 ... dZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mobile-Celeron-478-pin-SL6QH-2-0GHz-256-400_W0QQitemZ200007360450QQihZ010QQcategoryZ16180Q QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Just go to "Listed in category: Computing > Desktop PC Components > CPUs > Intel CPUs > Celeron > 478" on the ebay listing to find more :)

I would try and find a regular P4 at 2.0Ghz rather than a celeron if possible - celerons are slower and you probably wont seel *much* increase over a regular pentium 1.5Ghz
