Hi
I bought 2 novatech geforce 6600GT to put in an SLi motherboard, when i opened the graphics card boxes the cards are physically different with different part numbers, although they are both described as 6600GT with 256MB memory. My question is will they work? I understand that the cards have to be identical to work in an SLi configuration. Can you enlighten me please!

No they do not need to be completely identical.

Nvidia SLI just requires that both cards have the same chipset. They can be different makes, this is ok.

So for example

To do SLI both cards must be for example 6600GT or 7800GTX. You cannot for example have a 7800GT and the add a 7800GTX. These are not the same chipset so they will not work in SLI.

As long as they are both 6600GT there should be no problem with SLI. Please make sure you use latest drivers from Nvidia in order to eliminate any driver issues.

some graphics cards are bought out with the same core, but different amounts of RAM
eg
7900gt is a 256mb card
but gainward have made a modification to it and made it a 512mb 7900gt, and a 256gt would work with a 512 gt, but the 512 would only use 256 to be the same as the slower one
