The below instructions show you how to partition a new hard drive using FDISK and how to format from DOS. Once formatted you can install Windows 98 or ME.
if you dont already have one create windows 98 / ME boot disk from add remove programs in control panel
restart system with boot disk in drive
start with CD-ROM support
type FDISK
display partition status (option 4)
press esc
delete partition (option 3)
if there any partitions on the drive delete them all
press esc
create primary dos partition (option 1 then 1 again (yes when prompted))
restart system
go back into FDISK and choose option 4
check the usage is 100%
exit out of FDISK
type FORMAT C: /U
insert windows 98 / ME CD
type setup to install windows 98 / ME
follow on screen instructions
once windows is installed install all necessary drivers and then visit http://www.windowsupdate.com and install all available updates.
