can anyone tell me if the novatech's own 8cm fan has a 3 wire connector to allow you to have a variable fan speed (third wire for the sensor).

the product code is:

EN-8CMFAN

thanks for helping!!!

beam me up, because i dont know aswell
but if you are worried about the noise then you can always just do a simple volt mod to the fan's connector if it is a 4pin molex connector,
i did one to my old 80mm fan, and it runs at 7V and is very quiet, you can only hear it if you get your ear right next to it

its not the noise that i am bothered about. i am having majour problems with heat in my case, so i intend to add a nexus silent 120mm fan, another 80mm fan and a thermaltake hardcano 12 unit to control them.

80mm fans arent that loud, it all depends on how far away your case is from you.
and if the fan is a 4 pin one, then it will run at full tilt

the only real reason that i am using a silent fan is because it it is the only 120mm fan that they have on the novatech website, novatech is resonably local to me (less than 15 mile), so its easy to get to and many other places are overpriced!!

i suppose if i phoned up novatech customer services they may be able to tell me if the fan has a sensor or not!

Agrees

I had a Delta on my CAK4-88T cpu cooler, at full tilt it goes about 5900rpm, plus a delta fan is about twice as deep as an ordinary 80, to help get the increased air flow. Had mine on a controller too (still use it for my current cooler and other fans)

Even if the fan has a 4 pin plug on it, a simple 3-4 pin adaptor will allow you to connect to the hardcano unit.

i was talking about a generic 80mm fan, not a delta uber loud fan which could break eardrums at full tilt
