Are these the seagates at the moment? And any ideas on lead time?
Nox
Hiya
These will be with us by Wednesday and the first batch will be Seagate
and one's now in my x80r :D:D:D:D:D
Many Thanks!
Nox
just like to say... these drives are very notciably faster over the 160gb, 5400 rpm I used to have. Probably not SSD fast but very very good. HD tach is coming up pretty similar to a regular desktop drive performance.

Hi Nox
Was the drive that you got 7200rpm as advertised?
It's just that I ordered one expecting 7200 but got one thats 5400rpm I didn't realise and it's now fitted with the OS on
nope they gave me a seagate momentus 5400.6 :( Popped up there today to get an external SATA docking port to xfer my data off it as it was allready out of my comp. Had swapped it back without thinking :D
Will be taking it back in tomorrow I expect, or Monday - I need to pop into Halmatic which is next door so will do it all in one trip.
They are fast though, I REALLY want to see what a proper one is like, nearly 90MB/s !!!

but you know what... now ive seen what double the transfer rate feels like, i soooo want to try an ssd... need the space though :(

You got the same as me then!!!!
I wish I could just pop in
yeah, was it the access time gave it away for you? mine was around 20ms and i was thinking 'thats not right....'
kinda wish i'd spotted it before installing vista + games. have to admit, i'm pretty tempted to keep it as an external...
Will ask if they will check their stock tomorrow. that patriot warp is now looking very very tempting...

I have bought NOV-NBH750 which is advertised as the same spec and form factor 9.5mm as the 7200.4 momentus. As far as I am aware this is the only manufacturer to produce a 2.5" hard drive with 7200rpm 9.5 form factor and 500GB.
I have ordered the Novatech item as its much cheaper for what should be the same thing and I hate to waste money.
Question, does the drive have a manufacturers and model identifying sticker on the case? If its only has a Novatech sticker when you put it in the machine can you find out what model it is?
With a mac on OSX it possible in Disc Utility but if you bought one thinking it was 7200rpm and turned out to be something else can you please post what model and manufacturer drive was actually supplied?
Thanks
it has the original manufacturers sticker under a novatech one. any of the drive utilities will tell you what it exactly is, or bios on a PC, I don't know what you'd use on a mac though...
I got a 5400.6 originally, see above it's in one of my posts. I doubt they are still shipping the wrong ones, this was ages ago... 2 months!
