Well yes and no.
Mitac and Uniwill do not make fully built notebooks. They make the barebone chassis to the buying companies specification as in Novatech.
So for example Mitac will produce the base chassis configuration, we as a computer assemblier would then order the base design and mitac would then add any modfications we wanted and then build these in to barebones. The barebone chassis's are then shipped to us and we complete the rest of the build.
So Yes although Mitac and Uniwill and various other companies who build notebook sub assemblies are involved they do not do all the work.
So in reality they are not rebadged as they were never badged in the first place as they were not complete units. We in reality bought a part made by uniwill for us.
It would be no different to us building PC's with motherboards in from MSI. This does not mean our PC is a rebadged MSI, MSI did not make the PC, Novatech did, it just has a part in it MSI made. The Same goes for Uniwill, or Mitac. They are just the majority manufacturer of the parts used to make the notebook.

So all novatech adds to a laptop barebones is a CD drive?

No, when the unit arrives all it contains is the mainboard and TFT panel mounted in the plastic casings along with the keyboard and touch pad as they are obviously designed to fit the shape of the plastics, we add everything else.
