First post so be gentle evry1.
Firstly am a reasonable novice on pc's. I want to move my 1.8gb home movie file to my 500gb external hard drive, which currently has 5.8gb of stuff already on it.

My computer keeps telling me not enough space available on my ext. hd & to do a disk clean up.

My homevideo is a avi. format file recorded on Pinnacle Studio 12 trial software.

Can anyone help ?;)

What format is your external drive? If it's FAT32 then you'll have trouble with files larger than 4GB, but as you say it's only 1.8GB. Maybe change your explorer view to show hidden files and see if anything shows up?

This app is superb at showing which files are taking up all the space on your drives

hmmm, i would guess your external hard drive is fat32, and that has a file size limit, but its over what you're trying to copy... (around 4gb)

I'd be tempted to copy the stuff off your external, and reformat it to ntfs. it it's allready ntfs ignore me :)
