Keyboard stopped working

Hi!

I've got Discovery 17"WS AMD64 3200 1024MB DDR 80gb HDD ATI RS480M Radeon Xpress DVD-R, Windows XP SP2, had in since December 2005.

Couple of days ago the keyboard stopped working! Also, sometimes it won't start up, or go out of standby mode.

I will request a repair next week, but I just wanted to know whether there's anything I could do myself to resolve this?

see if you can get into the BIOS - when booting up it will say what button to press. This will tell you if its a windows probalem, or a hardware problem. For the latter, you will need to send it back to the place it cae from.

At first, I couldn't get into BIOS, because the keyboard wasn't functioning. :) But when I connected an external USB keyboard, it still didn't help.

I phoned Novatech support this morning. They advised me to take out the battery for a few minutes and then put it back in. Surprisingly, it worked! So my laptop is working again! :)

All I can say is - WEIRD. :)
