I will need to double check but i think the highest CPU you could go to in this unit is the Turion MT-37. Which i is a 2ghz CPU.

Turion is the best AMD Mobile CPU you can get.

Athlon XP CPU is old product and is now out of production. They do not make them any more

Well this unit supports

Mobile Sempron 25w Series

Mobile Turion 25w and 35w Series

Mobile Athlon64 35w and 64w transportable series.

Its hard to recommend anything as you have not said what or why you think you need an upgrade so it makes it hard to advise on what is best

You could try switching the Windows power scheme from Mobile Laptop to Desktop or Always On. This will stop the CPU power managment from altering the clock speed of the CPU based on load and run it at full processor speed. ( If u have not alreayd done this )

Please note that doing this will reduce battery run time due to the CPU not clocking down.

Does this make a difference? Is there any improvement in your performance when editing.

What software do you use for editing??

Well i would get a turion 2.0ghz as that is the latest AMD mobile processor. The Athlon will use more power and you wont have a good battery life!

Get the Turion it is the latest mobile processor for notebooks

My dell has a 1.6ghz centrino and i was using a 2.0ghz AMD Turion and there was a big difference.

Yes your unit should be able to support the AMD Turion ML-40 CPU.

TMDML40BKX5LD

You will need to clean the heatsink and apply new thermal interface material for the CPU.

Due to the risk of damage to the unit should this upgrade not be done correctly please only perform this task if you are confident enough to carry it out.
