I've just purchased a Novatech PC without an operating system installed. I'm unable to install XP - Inserting the XP CD I have doesn't seem to work. :-(
I have an old Mesh Computer - I have re-booted this a few times in the past and had to insert 6 XP boot floppy discs before the XP CD. I was hoping the new computer would boot straight from the CD as it doesn't have a floppy drive.
Any suggestions please?

There is no optical in the BIOS.
Boot priority is currently:
1 [1st flopppy drive] - there is no floppy drive
2 [SATA : 3M-Hitachi HD]

There are no CD/DVD drives listed in the BIOS. The only thing seems to be the HDD.
Are drivers for the CD/DVD drive usually on the XP installation CD? Or should the DVD drive have been set up already?

There should be a 3rd on that list as in dvd/cd drive, check everything is is plugged in properly etc.

There seems to be power to the DVD drive - the drawer opens, but closes immediately though - giving just enough time to drop a CD into it.
Not 100% sure about IDE - IDE settings seem to be enabled...

Yes - Loose connection to the DVD drive. One of the cables wasn't in properly.
Thanks guys - it shows up in the BIOS now and is installing XP.
Regards.
