August 7, 2006 - AMD announced today that ATI's days are numbered. All future products developed by ATI will now ship under the AMD brand name, effectively ending 21 years of ATI brand-history.

AMD is reportedly anxious to assert that its ATI acquisition is a full take-over rather than a merger or partnership. What impact the decision will have upon deepening the AMD-AMD (ATI) vs. Intel-Nvidia divide remains to be seen.

looks like ATI will be gone, and renamed as AMD, this was reported a few days earlier on theinquirer, but i just thought that i would share this news with you. 8)

So that means that intels flagship core2 will work best on ATI's newest chipset, which is actually AMD's baby (if you follow me)

so what will happen to the AMD nvidia fanboys out there, will we have to get an ATI, sorry, i mean AMD card if we want an AMD cpu :?

im not sure about you, but this is getting confusing

Theres alot of rumours and speculations about whether or not ATI will keep their name, i personally think that ATI should be kept, just for a brand that consumers can associate with.

wonder what the chances are that the drivers will be doctored so the cards give a lower performance on Intel boxes??

And good on them if they do, intel have been doing that for years.... what this SSE support and such.

Bring on an all AMD system, a brisbane core on an AMD crossfire chipset motherboard with dual AMD X2050 1024mb cards.......
