hi people,
I need some hel configuring my new drive.
i have a pc with a motherboard bundle bought from trusty Novatech. AMD Sempron 2600 cpu on advance 6T Motherboard.
Its been working fine with the Maxtor 80gb drive in it, but that has since died on me, and i now have a new Samsung SP0842N 80 gb drive.
It installs ok but the bios only sees the disk as 31GB, and i cant manually enter the details of head and sector etc as the option is greyed out.

what do i do :? to get the disk seen as 80GB as it should be?

cheers

This sounds like you have the 32GB limiter enabled. HDD come with a jumper which locks the driver down to 32gb. This is to make it work with old PC that do not support HDD with large size disk.

Please check the HDD documentation and Jumpers as this does sound like bad config of drive.

http://www.samsung.com/Products/HardDis ... ide_02.htm (http://www.samsung.com/Products/HardDiskDrive/support/Download/userguide/usersguide_02.htm)

Please see there for help on jumper configuration.
