Hey guys, I need a bit of help and have-not been able to get a clear answer from any companies so I thought I'd ask some end-users who have maybe been through this.

I'm looking to get a new phone contract, I was thinking about T-mobile, they offer the Web 'n' Walk deal and that attracts me.

But the real thing is, I really enjoyed being on 3, they gave me free unlimited MSN usage, and that was great.

But since having a phone with a Qwerty keyboard I could never go back to a normal one, I'm terrible at texting and the keyboard is great, and three do not offer any good phones.

So my question is, If I got a contract with T-mobile with web 'n' Walk, which comes with 1GB data Allowance, would that be enough to use MSN pretty much unlimited for a month, I used to leave it running on my three phone and was great.

Live messenger whenever I wanted, and the coverage was great, O ye, what's t-mobiles 3G network like.

I know its great in Cardiff City centre which is where I am most of the time, but what about more rural locations, where three tends to flourish.

Thanks in advance for any reply's.

Get an iPhone!

Officially you will need to get the slighty more expensive web n walk pro, as the standard version doesn't allow use of messenger. Some people have had it working, some people have it blocked. The Pro version allows you to use it for anything, including tethering it to a laptop and using it as a modem.

Haha, I will never buy an iPhone. Ever!, if I had one for free...... I would sell it.

Thanks for your reply, although I cant seem to find a specific pro package, Just standard web 'n' walk and 'FREE Internet', is all I see.

I have the T-Mobile G1 on the Flext 30 plan, don't really use the 3G much cus when at home it uses my wifi. 3G around Bristols pretty good, even in the rural surroundings where I live.

Pretty sure MSN wouldn't eat up 1gb a month. But depends on usage I guess. When I got the plan I was like "WTF 1GB thats 2 hours on my PC lol". But last month used ~120mb of browsing / trying to use apps for msn / google maps.

I agree, can't use a non qwerty keyboard to text or on screen keyboard. I tried the iphone but hated it (plus iphone instantly makes you an iSheep).

Okay cool,

iSheep lol, true though, plus I don't really see the advantage of an iPhone over some generic LG touch screen.

I was thinking about getting the same plan as you, the G1 is a great phone but looks awful in my opinion,

But I will read a few reviews of it and might buy it.

How is it for you?

The iphone is rather good in all honesty provided you download all the apps that u would need to make the phone truely yours (and useable as without its pretty lame!)... other than that, whats wrong with three??? the google phone is ok but its no iphone killer...

Three don't seem to release any phones that I want to keep for 18 months.

Things I don't like about the iPhone.

1. Cant run more than one App, which is pointless, my nokia 5310 could run more than one app, and my HTC s730/10 or whatever, can run many 'a' app.
2. No qwerty keyboard
3. Very over-priced
4. I have to pay for absolutely everything, just doesn't seem worth it
5. I would have to join the cult like following that are apple fan boys.
6. Im not sure, but I know the first one couldn't record video, not sure about the second
7. No flash support
8. Cant copy stuff and paste it.
9. And the one that tops it all, you have to use iTunes, cant just drag and drop music on there,

I just know if I spend £40 a month plus the £100 or so for the 16GB model, it will annoy me so so very much.

The G1 may be ugly, but as far as functionality goes, it is incredible compared to the iphone without a doubt.

G1 is good, but I only got it because I'm a developer / programmer so the lack of apps didn't phase me. The only real problems with it are its battery life (but the iphone suffers it too, ~10 hours of heavy usage)(I get a day of medium usage out of my G1).

They have introduced paid apps now, the same as the iphone but its better. With the iphone, once you have bought the app, if its rubbish, no refund. But with the G1 you can get your money back within 24 hours of buying it.
(Note: paid apps are only available to the USA currently, the only other annoying thing is that T-Mobile don't do the G1 updates universly :/)

Overall a 5/10 for the G1 (hardware)
Overall a 8/10 for the Android OS
Overall a 9/10 for T-Mobile

So do you think its worth it getting an 18 month ball and chain with T-Mobile and the G1?

Not really. The android system is good but the G1 hardware is rubbish. Would wait till other phone come out with android, but the trend now is for onscreen touch keyboards :/.

Okay, I was sceptical at first, I will wait it out.

I'm not a fan of the touch screen keyboards, I find myself hitting backspace constantly, way to many mistakes.

my wife just called o2, she went with a £20 a month 'singularity' deal. 1200 texts, 600 minutes, unlimited data, and no contract - end at a months notice. Options open until you spot a deal you really want or you need to get a new phone as old one breaks/gets losts etc.

all very minor things :D

i love my iphone, cannot ever see me getting a different phone... I like the idea of the android but hmmm, a phone is only as good as it's weakest link. I reckon the iphones weakest link is significantly higher than any other phone, for what i use it for. none of what you posted above annoys me, the only thing i do hate is not being able to forward sms's or have native mms support. although email is great...

Sorted.

I just ordered the white G1,

700 minutes
1400 texts (Or any mix of the two)
Unlimited Mobile Internet

I talked to someone at customer services, and although its a 1GB fair use policy, they said you can use about 5GB, and they don't contact you if you use it too much, she said there is no need, which sounds promising.

Should be here by 1PM Saturday, I will post back with my thoughts.

Thanks for your help and support guys ;-)

I have had the G1 for 7 days now and it does not disappoint, its ****** great.

T-Mobiles's 3G network seems to beat three's one by a country mile.

Dont ever hesitate to get one.
