I want to build a new PC
I am interested in an ATHLON 64 AM2 CPU but I have no idea which motherboard to buy.
I do not play games
I do not need to overclock anything
Any suggestions much appreciated

any of the AM2 boards will be ok.

i personally would go for an asus board, any of the M2N boards would be good.

I've read good reviews of the M2N32-SLI Deluxe NF590
Based on my previous statements is this a bit over the top?
I don't have broadband at the moment but if I do get it my PC is upstairs and the telephone line is downstairs so would the WiFi help?

its only a broadband connection that you can share wireless, dial up can only be done through wires.

the M2N32-SLI Deluxe NF590 is a very good choice of board. two of the main selling points for this board are its an SLI board and has great overclocking features, if your not overclocking and gaming the board may be a bit much.

what are you using the PC for?

if your using it for things like video, audio or photo editing or other high power tasks and plan to go for a top end system this board will be very good. if your planing to use the system for things like Internet, work and email i think the board will be a little over the top.

I'll definitely be doing Audio and Photo, maybe Video later.
Web Design as well.
Definitely Internet and email.

if your doing a audio and video work then this board is an excellent choice.

when editing you will push the system to the limit and this board should cope very well.

I have heard some very good things about the asrock AM2 boards
but the nvidia 590 chipset is a bit much, i would go for one of the lower models that doesnt include SLI, because sli is mainly for gamers(correct me if im wrong)

Yes you could consider Nvidia 570 chipset instead

you dont need all that for audio / video.
All you need is CPU power and memory.

Have you considered getting some of the 939 components while they are going for cheap.
If you are doing audio visual work then you could get a 939 skt opteron.
And the larger L2 cache in the opterons help with audio and video editing.

But 939 is going out soon, and upgrades wont be as easily done, compared to the new AM2 stuff.

But AM2 opterons are on the way, just watch out intel :D

So would this do the job then?
ASUS M2N-E NF570, Socket AM2, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX
