Hi there,

In each case where we have had an instance of the checkout button not working correctly it has been an issue with the person's browser, and not with the site itself. It is usually down to an old version of Internet Explorer, or cookies or javascript disabled... or being behind a particularly strict corporate firewall which doesn't allow AJAX calls.

Can you please tell me what browser your using and if you have any toolbars installed and what security level you are running at?

I tried with latest version of firefox and IE7 have all security turned off and no browser security.

I also tried on my laptop and still the same problem.

Silimiar problem here too.

It might not make good business sense to use anything complicated in your web that some corporate sites may block. Afterall, you could be loosing business.

It used to work so what ever change you have made recently needs to be looked into really.

Hi Guys,

Apologies that you are having issues with the site.
Could you help me out by letting me know the following...

1. Is it the checkout button on the top-right corner of the site, the one in the basket page, or both you are having issues with?

2. Are you able to access the secure areas of our site without a problem? (My account etc).

Thanks for your help.

Hi Wilbo.

1. When you hit the buy button, nothing happens.. Nothing is added to cart. A message on the bottom of the page says "Done but with errors" but of course nothing has done.

2. I am able to log into the account page normally.

Hope that helps.

Can you tell me when it says "done but with errors" in internet explorer if you click on the warning symbol at the bottom of the page can you tell me what the errors are. If possible in firefox also there is better javascript error reporting available by going to tools and error console, if you could load the page up, open the error console, clear all the warnings and then press the buy button it should show lots of warnings which are normal but i hope it will show an error somewhere at the bottom...

Hopefully with this info i will be able to recreate the problem or get further into finding out what exactly is causing it.

Ok as far as i can see this is still something to do with browser security, maybe set by a proxy or system/company wide policy.

Try adding the novatech site to your trusted sites and then set all security options to "allow" or enabled for sites you have marked as trusted and try again.

We may be able to make changes to resolve this if this is the case.

Ok, the problems appears to be fixed here but I don't know if the company has changed any policies. Looking at the checkout process this morning, it seems that it may have had problems with the new "hover" checkout.

You may have to consider that many of your customers will be buying from work who may have similar polices in place. Although these things look great, there's not much use if they turn customers away. One of your competitiors did the same thing a few years back with flash player and a lot of people could get onto the website. Again, at the time a lot of companies blocked flash as policy.

Hope you don't mind me being so open.

We have made no changes to the site, we have had a very small number of people having problems like these and as standard there arent many companies i imagine that would want to stop javascript from working as javascript is pretty much a main part of most websites these days. Ajax is the next stage up from javascript that uses xml parsers.. now it is possible that a company may be able to block this somehow but isnt a standard practice and as for compatibility this standard has been out since web 2.0 early 2004 and all mainstream updated browsers work with this....

we will however continue to look into this issue.
