Hey world
I'm looking to replace the, frankly, weak-*** DELL speakers I got with my PC
So, I'm looking for a new set!
I've heard good things about the Logitech Z4s, any thoughts?
I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi card, if you know anything that goes well with that?
Cheers!

What's your budget?
What would you enjoy doing with your speakers? (i mean in the sense of gaming, audio, professional editing etc...)
How badly do you need a sub?

if your lookin for about £40-£50 you can find a pair of JBL Creature 2's :) beasty little speakers :)
I would get a set of these M-Audio AV40 Active Speakers (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/StudiophileAV40.html). Really good from the reviews and can be picked up for under £100.

Gotta agree, the Z-4's are the way to go for price.
I bought a set of X-230's (think thats what they are, cant recall just now) just before the Z4 came out.
Wish i'd gotten them meself (especially after my eldest decided the bullet cones would look and sound better if she pushed em in)

Would also reccomend the Acoustic Energy - Aego M's, mine lasted a good 3 years of everyday use, cant go wrong for the price their at i.e. around £90 :agree:
Would definitly buy another set, but I'm thinking of buying am amp & speakers it's the next logical step up.

Logitech X-230's are great and performance is on par with some more expensive 2.1 speakers.

If you truly want THE best 2.1 speakers (imo) the Logitech Z-2300 must be a contender, 200W of pure bliss. I've had them for about a year and a half and the bass shakes the entire house, perfect for late night gaming. :D
They're good for a range of music too (with bass adjustment) and give action films that extra kick that you don't get with other speakers, however i must say, their main strength is definately the sub, much bigger in real life than it looks in pictures.
The only problem with these speakers is that the people have had problems with the left hand speaker cutting out if you drop the volume too much on the controller (a solution to this is having volume low in windows) also the inbuilt fuse in the sub is apparently expensive to replace and difficult to source, but i can't see this being a problem since fuses barely ever blow these days

No offense but an amp + decent bookshelf speakers & dedicated sub trample over any 2.1 speaker set.

There is some nice hardman and Kardman ones, but they're more about the aesthetics..

How deep's the bass go?
Subwoofer 265x 190 x 350mm seems all I can pick up on their website.
Whether that is lower than my (passive and not subwoofer) PA speakers (Frequency response +/- 3db 55-20kHz), I can't tell.
---
I'm not an audiophile, sound system expert of any type, etc. but when I acquired some PA stuff and did have a passing look (though maybe in a sense, it could be more interesting than that - I think sound engineering could be a fascinating subject and a mix of things that can be calculated and sheer experience inthe field), one thing I did notice was a difference in levels of information given (I think perhaps unfairly...) in relation to the target audiences.
And... all that aside, would like a 2:1 for this PC later in the year and as good as I can get for say £50, so I'm just making an observation with the above.

The quality between the reason is not speaker but fusion.
Sony wept in peace of Sennheiser, the fat feet wouldn't allow of it.
eh?:confused::confused::confused:

I got a set of Logitech Z-4's for £36 and quite honestly, stunning sound quality for the price. From the reviews I read before buying them, some of them states they held up well against sound solutions twice the price. What a claim, and I believe they were correct.
Very happy with my Z-4's
