NPOD NOV-MP3B1G Disk Error

Ive had a NPOD 1GB MP3/MP4 player (NOV-MP3B1G) for a few months without any problems. I havent use it in a while, however when i switch it on and try and play anything it displays 'Disk Error!' on the screen.

Also when I connect it up to my PC i can see it in 'My Computer' however when I try to double click in it it says 'Please insert Disk into Drive D'.

Is this faulty?
