What to get for gaming budget of 160 quid

Hi

Im planning on building a pc and im stuck when it comes to a CPU, the ones i have been looking at are

which is the better out of the 2?
I want somthing that is going to last a me a lengthy time and wont need to be clocked to make it run really well with games, although clocking is somthing i will eventuly consider.

Im not an expert, but if it was me id get the E6400. Intels new processors are extremely good and beat alot of competition. But if you get this you must make sure you have a compatible motherboard. It will not work on any socket 775 mobo, it has to be one that works with the Core 2 Duo line of CPU's. These are the 775X sockets. Dont just take my advice though, wait till some more experienced people reply on this topic :)

get the core 2 duo, which is the one lemonmike suggested.
they are alot better than the old intel cpu's and are better than most of the AMD cpu's.
make sure your motherboard will work with the new core 2 duo chips though

sorry mate, but the intel core 2 duo (conroe) cpu's beat AMD so bad, i hate to admit it, but intel are winning the battle in performance

i have a 6400 and can say its amazing, performance and speed is far greater than i expeteced. highly recommend new core 2 duo chips

i know about core2duo, but i have a natural hatrid for intel, so my opinion is always AMDAMDAMDAMDAMD!!! sorry but this is gonna start up another amd/intel fight, so AMDAMDAMDAMDAMDAMD, you could also wait for the really new amd stuff like the fx 70 and stuff to come out, then the prices would drop for there older stuff

you can wait forever for new computer gear, why not wait for the kentsville, why not wait till 2020, there will be much faster cpu's then and you will be able to get a core 2 duo for about 5p.

Fanboys are idiots. I was with amd for 9 years....Why? There cpu's were better. Now i'm intel..Why? There cpu's are better. FX cpus are a waste of time, they don't offer a lot of oc ability anyway, and a E6300 smokes them.
