Recently bought, and am so far very happy with my MaxFire 3000 notebook.
Last week, I bought a Linksys wireless g ADSL router, but I can't seem to get the notebook's built in wireless networking (802.11g) to work. I can use a wireless-g PC card successfully, so I know the router is sending out the right signals. I've tried the router in 802.11g and 802.11b/g mixed mode with no luck.
The notebook is about 3-4 m from the router with direct line of sight.
Any ideas? I haven't (yet) tried reinstalling the drivers for the wireless in the notebook...
Thanks in advance
Phil

I'll have to check later today. I don't have the notebook with me at work. It'll be whatever was installed with it at the beginning of July.

It's using Ralink technology driver, 20/10/2005 - 3.1.0.0
Is there a newer/better version?

The MSI card is Ralink. The Chip used on the Card is Ralink. MSI just make it in to a card. The Driver therefore comes from Ralink and just gets made up by MSI in to there own Driver.
3.1.0.0 is the latest driver from Ralink and MSI for this card.
Does your laptop actually see the wireless lan and just not connect or does it not see anything at all??
Are you running the latest firmware for your router??

Using the built in wireless, I don't see the wireless at all. With the PC card wireless, I do and can connect...
I believe I'm running the latest firmware for the router, but will have to check later.

Looking at the linksys website, I believe I am running the latest version - certainly the version numbers look familiar.

Ok then this would only lend itself to the wireless card being at fault.
Either faulty or possibly not fully seated.
I would suggest you phone up and speak to one of our Technical Support people with regard to this problem.

Thanks for the suggestions and help. I'll try that after confirming that the firmware version is the latest etc tonight.
