this is a very odd problem. as the new board is working and the video card is working i would guess the two are just not compatible with each other. :?

i have not seen a compatibility issue like this for a long time.

the only thing that i would have suggested to try would have been a bios update as you have already done this i cant think of anything else to try.

maybe some other forum members may be able to think of a way to get the card and board working together.

Ginge, try and avoid updating the bios on the card. MoBo bios update success runs at aroung 95%, vga cards closer to 50%.

You say you have a 600w PSU, just what make is it and what are the specifications for it (what Amp ratings does it give for the +3.3, +5, and +12v rails). I'd hazard a guess that the 9800 is on par with the 6600gt for power requirements, so that is likely to not be the problem, but just wish to know to rule it out.

sorry, should of been more helpful - have you tried disabling the onboard VGA in the BIOS? you may find doing this will let the nvidia card kick into gear.
