Ok well my mum has had a Packard bell Easynote C3300 for a few years now and it sucks really bad. Its been getting hot so as im pretty confident with computer related stuff i decided i would take a look inside. about 30 screws later its apart and the heatsink waas full of dust. Anyway my sister was using it for awhile and manages to spill a drink in the keyboard meaning you could only type with a USB keyboard. Long story short i think ima get a new keyboard while its apart and replace the broke one but also maybe try add some Ram and a new Hdd maybe?

Basically heres a link to the spec.

http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=spec_memory_K1&ppn=P910R00001

And with the memory configuration site it says this is the stuff i want.

http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=36588&ft=m

But they want £40 for 512mb????????????? :001_unsure:

Basically i know nothing about laptops and what that means. Is it DDR2 stuff i want or what? If someone can point me in the direction of the stuff i need that would be ideal.

DDR buddy i would say and it will more likely be limited to how much it can take,http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?CSR-SD4051 thats as good as any and will work in 99% of laptops.

K thx dude. it will only take 768mb max and its got 256mb at the moment so should be a nice little boost. You think a new IDE hdd is worth it?

Depends on how much stuff is kept on it they are pretty cheap these days so dont see why not while its open do what you can to it. 768mb what an odd ram config, if 1 slot will take 1 512mb then cant see why the other slot cant also take it lol but if thats what it says i guess better stick to it.

Well its got 256mb built in to the mobo then only one slot for expansion. I was thinking not for size of hdd as its only going to be used for surfing the net but speed of the hdd as right now the system feels soooo slow. Was thinking a 60Gb 4200rpm may be faster than what it has now. Will do some research on the current drive.

Probably more down to the spec of the laptop more than the hdd tbh, i would stick with the ram its going to improve things a lot so if its a performance thing i really wouldnt bother the hdd.

Just a little update, Upgraded the Memory so now got 768mb and gave it a clean out while replacing the keyboard its all running alot faster and not turning overheating anymore. Could prolly do with a clean install of XP but the DVD drive seems to have stopped working so cant at the moment. Thx for the help dude.
