Hi. From this post Here (http://forum.novatech.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=496) I have worked out my laptop type [EDIT ~ as the Mitac 8355] and am dowloading the BIOS flash. The problem I have with my laptop is that it has stopped reading blank cd's and dvd's or writing to them. It used to do it fine.

I have checked the process in the admin tools is running and uninstalled NERO just incase it was that but it still won't work. I am wondering if doing the above will fix it. I thought i'd better ask first, ha. It reads all other cd types fine, like I said, it has just stopped burning. It is basically acting like a DVD rom drive now which isn't what it should be.

I'm sorry if I haven't given enough info but I can't find my invoice from when I bought it from novatech. The details arn't online as I bought it from the shop in Portsmouth.

Please help me.

i dont think updating the bios will fix the problem with the dvd drive not burning disks.

if the drive is reading ok but its not burning i would guess the problem is the drive its self. there is a very small chance the problem could be software related. do you have any other burning software that you could try?

Cheers, I have tried windows software and Nero. Nothing will burn because the drive can't see the blank disc. I think I am going to have to find my invoice and maybe bring it in for you to have a look. The writing laser might have gone faulty for all I know.
