View Full Version : Poor service from UPS reflects badly on Novatech

On Friday I ordered two bundles of computer hardware. One from Overclockers, one from Novatech. Normally I wouldn't split up an order but each company had better deals on different components. Both orders were placed early on Friday morning, both for a fair amount of money, (not that spending more should entitle anyone to better service). With both companies I paid extra for Saturday delivery.

The consignment from Overclockers was delivered at 8.45am on Saturday by Citylink. No sign of any delivery from Novatech. I use order tracking to check everything is okay. As soon as I see Novatech use UPS my heart sinks because I know there will be a problem. UPS are useless, I've had hundreds of packages delivered, the ONLY company that consistently misses deliveries is UPS.

UPS live up to my expectations, the package isn't delivered, I waste all of Saturday waiting for it. There is no information that UPS can give me other than they have "received the billing information". Where the package is, if they have even collected it, when they might get round to delivering it? They don't know. They can't say. God forbid a courier should know where a package is.

I will never order from Novatech again as long as they use UPS. It's a shame because I think Novatech are a good company but I'm afraid UPS are not. Anyway, to make a point I will refuse delivery when UPS eventually get round to delivering, probably some time toward the end of next week. I will order the goods from Overclockers instead. I know Citylink will deliver when they are supposed to.

It's a shame that Novatech has to lose business to a rival company because of the failings of a third party, but for an online customer delivery is the only genuine point of contact. Mess that up and you almost invariably lose the customer. Why don't Novatech get a proper delivery service? Why spend time building up a good reputation only to have it ruined by a cowboy outfit like UPS? Absolute madness, I would rather you strap the package to a blind donkey and set it off in the general direction of London than use UPS. It would certainly get here quicker.

City Link are useless and so are the rest of them. I ordered some things when Novatech used to use DHL. I have never come across a worse company then them. They were useless and totaly unhelpful. The package turned up 4 days late the first time, and was also damaged. The replacement turned up on time, but again damaged, and then the replacement again was a week late. Apperently they couldn't find my work address, considering it was the same delivery driver who delivered into my place of wor every day!! DHL customer services were useless and then said then said that they couldn't deliver to that post code on a next day!!! WTF was all that about.

UPS have always been fantastic as as far as I am concerned will always be the best in the UK and anywhere, no complaints from me.

Novatech need to keep UPS. In my opinion if they ever swap back to DHL or anyone else they will lose a lot of business through very unhappy customers because of the poor delivery that the rest offer.

I wonder if Novatech were sure that Saturday delivery was available in your area by UPS......????? :?

This isnt a novatech experience, but i had a trouble with DHL.
Story goes like this.
Monitor broke, dead pixels all over the shot.
Took back to place of purchase.
Gave to DHL to delivery back to acer for repairs
DHL took it to their warehouse
Delivered it to me,cracked screen and broken plastic round the edge
Didnt make it to acer
Company of purchase gave me a brand new monitor for the troubles and are trying to claim money from DHL for their rubbish service.

City link have delivered a couple of things to me, quickly and with no damage.maybe it is about location

i think they can all be as bad as the next, you just get good/bad days - i've seen citylink try and deliver something next door and drive off - there was me thinking they were heading to the back of the van to get my order.... then my neighbours popped the card round saying with my name/address on it.

/sigh

Nightfrieght I do rate though, they are they only company that i know of who will contact the driver, and if hes still close, he'll return to you house if you call em after you've been carded. And they have 24hr collection points.

Amazingly, I found this forum by googling "UPS useless".

It's amazing and coincidental because I'm waiting for a delivery from Novatech!!

I'm waiting RIGHT NOW for a telly - UPS have tried to deliver to my home twice already today, according to their tracking site. Needless to say I've been here - I've even been looking out the window watching for them - and there has been no sign of the Useless Pieces of S***!

Unfortunately this doesn't surprise me. I rang up Novatech and asked for the UPS tracking number first thing today, because I wasted too much time a couple of months back while UPS TWICE cocked things up royally.

I personally would NEVER deal with UPS directly, and I am now certainly considering not using a company that uses them (and I'm not saying that as any kind of threat, please understand, just a statement of fact).

Novatech has been great - its courier hasn't.

I've always said this - why on earth can't UPS *RING YOUR MOBILE* to say "we're on the way"? In this day and age, blindly delivering consumer goods like this is completely and utterly unacceptable. I would even pay a little bit more on delivery if it meant I didn't have to waste days sat at home like this.

Frustrated? Moi? Someone at Novatech, please sort it out.

Update - I've just called UPS to see what's going on and they've attempted delivery... to the wrong address.

I give up - how useless can a company get?

I meant UPS are useless - not Novatech! Although I strongly urge Novatech to kick UPS up the ****, if not out.

Having spoken to both UPS and Novatech just now it's quite obvious to me that UPS are incompetent, or, frankly, being dishonest. Either way it's left me wasting (yet another) day waiting for them, with no TV to watch.

i hate it when you wait in all day for a delivery, then it comes the next day when you are out or on the toilet

Amazon use Royal Mail

The beauty of royal mail is that you don't need to be in when they deliver. Yes it's handy if you are but they leave a card saying that it has been returned to the depot.

Then for 50p they will deliver the package to any post ofice where you can pick it up at your convenience.

My post office is about a 2 minute walk so this 50p option has been to use many times.

I have also suffered from the various courier companies who inform that they have tried to deliver but got no answer when you have been in all day.

Or - they call during the school run which is the only hour during the day that no one is in. You explain that apart from that hour there will be someone in all day - then they try to deliver the following day during the only hour......................

i think where ever you order stuff from the net you will here good and bad things about the couriers that they use.

so far out of all the orders i have placed online everything has turned up when stated and i have only had one order thats not turned up. this was form http://www.play.com, the order was dispatched no problem but got lost in post. out of about 250 orders from them (all free delivery :D ) only one going missing is very good in my opinion. WELL DONE PLAY.COM.

I appreciate what you are all saying about ups, but novatech are no angels. I have been using them for years, picking up at the warehouse, with no problems whatsoever. but i recently moved to the I.O.W so this time ( today at 1515) i ordered next day delivery. I phoned first to check i was inside the deadline to be told it would be best to place my order by 3.15 to gaurantee the 4pm deadline. This I duly did, had my order accepted, and got an order number. I got a call at about 4.45 from a very condescending uncaring chap claiming to have got the delivery address wrong so hadnt been able to process the order and I would have to wait until monday for delivery. He had a bad attitude and sounded like *censored* and left me feeling totally gutted. After thinking about it for a while, i thought that, rather than wait until monday, i would cancel my order, and go to the showroom tomorrow (£8 hover and the bus not withstanding) and do it properly. So, I phoned novatech, at 5.15, which, as sales are open late today for the start of christmas, i thought would be ok. but no, they are closed. Even now, at 13 mins past 6 on thursday evening they are closed. So, although i find the service i get when i collect brilliant, it is not only ups at fault when late delivery occurs
