I've been looking at the noctua but at £50 its a tad expensive. Is there a decent alternative thats around the £30 mark?

Not for the i7. Serious cooling is either the Noctua or the Thermalright TRUE 1366

The i7 kicks out a serious amount of heat as standard

Hi thecremeegg,
It's a bit dearer than you would like, but worth a look, quiet & allround good performer.

No, wouldn't touch that with a barge pole!

Get the TRUE 1366 version. The LGA775 version kicks ***!

for an i7 i'd go with TRUE or the Noctua one.

The Thermalright or the Noctua perform roughly the same and only a couple of degrees different so I would go for whatevers cheaper out of the 2.

The noctua is a great deal as it comes with everything you need including two very good fans :)

trust me, TRUE is what you want

if you already bought i7, surely you can afford a little more to make sure the CPU is comfortable in its sockets
