I have the normal gainward card and it's a brilliant overclocker. No doubt this will be even better.

Not bad, but scan have an EVGA SSC 192sp card with Mirror's Edge for £138
Or, and XFX 216sp card with Far Cry 2 and Mirror's Edge for £160
But, still, good card with a nice aftermarket cooler, should clock well

I'd pay £11.99 and a lot more for the upgrade from 192sp to 216sp.

This is an amazing deal! It's between this and the Zotac 192SP version for me...
I have a question about this card though: does it have the reference PCB under that cooler? Just wondering whether standard watercooling blocks will fit...

GeorgeStorm

No doubt, but why not pay an extra £10 and get Far Cry 2?

Helior

This one comes with Mirror's Edge

Hi all, I’m new to the forum but unfortunately it’s under the circumstances I will outline below.

I recently sold my 8800 GT (G92) 512 MB Graphics Card because I wanted an upgrade, I sold it for £70 and came to Novatech’s website on the 26th of March and ordered the Gainward GeForce GTX260 "Golden Sample" 216 Stream Processor 55nm SLI 896MB PCI-Express - Retail ** With Mirrors Edge** which is mentioned on this thread which including delivery and VAT cost me £156.87 so technically it cost me £86.87 due to selling my very reliable and extremely stable Zotac 8800 GT.

Well when the Gainward card arrived on the 27th of March I was very eager to get in my P.C and marvel at the wonders of what I knew would be an amazing card due to it’s specification, unfortunately I was wrong, I expected no problems at all with it being a fairly high spec graphics card, anyway I bought the card because I knew it would be a slightly over clocked graphics card so instead of it being the normal default shader clock speed of 1242 MHZ it states on the advertisement that the shader clock speed would be 1296 MHZ which is what I expected, now on the attached screen grab of the very latest version of GPU-Z on my computer it shows the shader clock speed is 1348 MHZ and the default shader clock speed is 1348 MHZ, 56 MHZ faster than what it is advertised at, now you might be thinking well I got a better deal then didn’t I? Unfortunately that’s wrong, the game Prince of Persia (the new one) and Crysis Warhead both have errors as does Unreal 3 (which were not present with the Zotac 8800 GT in all the time I had it) the errors I will list below,

Prince of Persia jerks all over the place and displays corrupt graphics.

Crysis Warhead displays square boxes when antialiasing is enabled (but doesn’t display them when it’s not) in fact Crysis Warhead runs fine without antialiasing on but I should be able to have antialiasing on with no problems.

Unreal Tournament 3 refuses to play at all, it loads the game and lets me click to start a game, but when it says press any key to start the match the graphics then go mental just spinning around and not allowing me to move anywhere, I have to press ctrl alt and del and close the application from the task manager.

As with the 8800 GT I used to have I use the resolution 1440x900 on my 19” widescreen monitor for all games and I never had any problems with the 8800 GT in any game.

As can be seen on the screenshot of the GPU-Z program running on my P.C the shader clocks default speed is 1348 MHZ, now I knew it was an overclocked version of the graphics card when I bought it but it stated 1296 MHZ not 1348 MHZ and I believe the fact that the card I received is running 56 MHZ faster than stated and 106 MHZ faster than the stock speed of the non overclocked cards has caused the problems i'm experiencing and I would like to know what my options are as I already have a returns number which is 2225517.

If someone could kindly get back in touch with me via E-Mail or by replying to this thread at some point today I would very much appreciate it as I also don’t believe that I should have to pay to send the card back to yourselves as I did not do anything wrong, I simply ordered a graphics card which I thought would be amazing and should have been.

Needless to say I would not like another Gainward card due to the very nature of the problem I have described, because I don’t want to have to risk sending it back again.

I would like to know which graphics card I could exchange it for in the GTX 260 range as I do not want a refund I would just prefer an exchange.

Thank you very much.

Emma Baker

Have you tried underclocking the shader to 1296mhz using Rivatuner (http://downloads.guru3d.com/RivaTuner-v2.24-download-163.html)?

Also what PSU are you using? If you PSU isn't good enough then it might not be supplying the card with enough power when it needs it.

Hi Timmy.

The PSU I am using is the ThermalTake ToughPower 650 Watt PSU the one here http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?S=1207&ID=1500 which has a total combined 12v rail voltage of 52 Amps, more than enough for this graphics card and everything else in my P.C, as I did a lot of research before even buying the card.

Also this website http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp is what I used to verify I would have more than enough power to run the card along side the rest of my system which combines,

Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHZ,
4 Gb DDR2 800 Ram,
420 GB Total disk space.

P.S) Timmy, I have not tried underclocking it to 1296 MHZ using rivatuner as I don't want to mess with the settings of the card and with it being at 1348 MHZ when I got it I would think that underclocking it wouldn't solve the problem anyway, as if the card got damaged when gainward clocked it to 1348 instead of the advertised 1296 mhz then it's too late anyway isn't it?

Could someone who works for Novatech who has replied to this thread previously please respond.

Thank you

Would Amy or Ritesh or a Novatech employee please respond to this as I have sent a private message to Amy and Ritesh who are both Novatech Product Managers.

Thank you

Hi Emma,

The corruptions you are describing sound like a driver issue rather than a problem with the shader clock. Have u downloaded the latest drivers from nvidia and checked for latest patches for the games you are trying to play?

Pookielydia
09-04-2009, 08:00 PM
Hi DJF,

Yes I have checked the latest drivers from NVIDIA and installed them, latest at present are 182.50, and Crysis Warhead is patched to the latest version also.

What I am going to do is try the game on another version of Windows XP (a fresh install) and see how the game runs on that version clear of everything other than the game, and if it runs ok then I will just use that particular version in a dual boot configuration and play all games on that.

Thanks for your reply.

try vista?

honestly, IMO right now, drivers for vista>drivers for XP.

and by vista i mean vista 64bit.

also try the 185.65 drivers.
