I have been waiting a month now for this and am currently waiting for a reply to the email i sent to Novatech regarding the availability of this.

i know that all online retailers i have looked at have not got these in stock. So I know there is a shortage, probably because of the price drops from AMD. At first i was told when ordered stock would be arrive in the warehouse within about 3 days. Then I attempted to contact novatech, got no reply via email or the messenger service but the status was updated to in stock 25 Aug.

So thought fair enough. But 25th came and went and still no stock and now that I think that all the stock that has been allocated to novatech has been pre-ordered the availability has gone back to 3 days when ordered.

I dont mind waiting a little while because there is a shortage, and it is such a great price for nearly the top AMD dual core processor, but a new estimated time would be helpful.

Another retailer said around 30th Aug now they have updated to 1st of sept.

it is so frustrating having all the other parts sat under my bed - 512mb ati graphics card, 2gb ram and the mobo and few other bits.

All that power and new parts and it will probably be ancient by the time i get my processor. :D

Will have to wait for hopefully an email from novatech or some kind of update. hopefully :!:

Been reading a thread on the amd site forums and some people have had theres pre ordered since may and not received it yet. This is from other retailers than novatech.

Plus that was before the big price drop. What are amd playing at.

plus also it is not just the uk, it looks worldwide.

Probably AMD are not telling resellers when they will be available cos probably amd dont know themselves.

such a good price it is a deal not to be missed really

Dont want to go buy a cpu which is not as powerful then the 5000 become available

Im assuming that AMD are swamped with lower end cpu's that the need for the X2 5000 is small in comparison.
Especially when the X2 3800 goes for an average of £150.
And the 3200's can go for £70

Jsut posted a message on the amd support forums regarding the stock availability of the 5000 and when we will see an adequate supply hit the UK retailers.

The thing that is annoying me is that no one seems to know when these prcoessors will be availabile. Online retailers keep putting the dates back of when they will be in stock. If AMD could give retailers a date when they can say look the 5000 will be ready about then that would be great. I dont mind waiting a little longer for this product at suh a good price but when I dont know how much longer it will be I start to think whether I will actually get this processor while the other PC parts I have got for it will still be fairly up to date with current technology

Anyway will let you guys know if i manage to find anything out

I blame dell, because they have started using AMD chips and they are power hungry pigs

Just heard that AMD are now going to do a 5200 version of the x2

It is the same clock speed as the 5000 but with 2mb L2 cache and it will be arounf £300 when it hits the shelves.

AMD can't get the 5000 out so why bring out a 5200 and probably slow down production of the 5000.

Your right Taxation, Dell are power hungry pigs and seem to be hogging all the 5000 to themselves.

BTW AMD emailled me back and said check the distributor site which basically likes to the main retailers in the UK, some of which are online stores i have tried

This is making AMD look really bad, and i feel sorry for you, waiting all this time waiting for the cpu to be in stock.
Why not get a X2 4600,i know it wont perform as well as the 5000, but at least you will have a working computer with a half decent processor.

I emailed microdirect, another company i use for pc parts to ask them if they knew and they replied within 24 with the following:

Dear Customer,

AMD will not be producing these any more but they will be producing the
AMD AM2 Athlon 64 Dual Core 5200 and will be available in a couple of
weeks. Hope this is of some help.

Regards,

Customer Service

So looks like AMD have abandoned it and bringing out the 5200 which is about £90 more

Will now be going with the 4600 like you say taxation. Was thinking of doing that last night because im sick of waiting now

Unlucky that they dont make it any more,
The 4600 is a good processor, but with a smaller L2 cache, which doesnt make that much of a difference in games.
