Hi all
Hope you can help? I have upgraded my laptop to vista home premium and now lost all sound. When i put the cursor over the sound speaker icon it says no audio output device instaled. It worked before but now there is nothing. Please help!!!
Thanks Nick

Hi Nick
Bad news mate... Dell doesn't support Vista on these older laptops so there's no easy download. A quick Google showed that the audio chipset is compatible with the AC97 standard so you might try a download of Vista drivers for that, but it's a bit of a long-shot hoping that one will work.
I'm guessing you had XP before ?
What might be worth a shot is bypassing Vista and going straight to Win7 - there is a much better chance that OS will detect your hardware out of the box.
if the drivers don't work, another option is to get a USB sound card - I got one a little while ago, cost around £7 or so (from here)

Hi all
Thanks for the replys guys, and yes it was xp before. i will search for some ac97 drivers and give them a go. The only reason i installed it was because the xp was corrupt and i did not have the original. so my sister got it for me cheap.
Cheers nick
